The 5th China-Brazil Symposium on Applied and Computational Mathematics is to discuss cooperation and activities between Brazil and China, especially in the field of applied and computational mathematics. The symposium is one of the major events between these two BRICS countries. The recent years have witnessed the active cooperation in various fields between Brazil and China. Federal University of Paraná has signed the collaboration agreement with Xi'an Jiaotong University, Yangzhou University, and Henan Polytecnic University respectively for research and cooperation among scholars and exchanges among students. The Araucarlia Foundation of Paraná State and National Natural Science Foundation of China of Zhejiang Province signed a cooperation agreement to jointly establish Labor Brazil-China of Artificial Intelligence in cooperation with Universidade Estadual De Londrina, Federal University of Technology, Paraná, Hangzhou Dianzi University and a number of industrial companies in Brazil. This event is to promote the relationship and dialogues among experts of applied and computational mathematics in order to discover new ideas and methodologies.

Dongguan Institute of Technology is the first general undergraduate institution in Dongguan, jointly built by the city and the province, with Dr. Chen Ning Yang, Nobel Laureate in Physics, as the honorary president. The university was established in 1990, approved by the former State Education Commission in April 1992, and changed to a full-time undergraduate institution of higher education in March 2002, approved by the Ministry of Education, and approved as a bachelor's degree granting unit in May 2006. In June 2010, it was approved as one of the first batch of colleges and universities implementing the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" by the Ministry of Education together with Tsinghua University and 61 other colleges and universities, and in September 2015, it was identified as a high-level science and technology university construction unit supported by Guangdong Province. In November 2018, the university science and technology park was selected as "National University Science and Technology Park Cultivation Unit", and in July 2019, it became the only demonstration university in the province for the construction of new high-level science and technology universities jointly built by the province and the city, and in 2020, it was successfully selected as the first batch of national intellectual property pilot universities.
